Take a gander at the video for Dirty Projectors‘ Swing Lo Magellan highlight, ”About to Die”. It features a bedridden Dave Longstreth, every religious leader under the sun, and a few dalmatians. All of which are appropriately jamming in the back of a truck. Makes sense.
In other new, the band has announced a new EP in support of the standout track. The About to Die EP is due out November 6th on Domino and features 3 fresh tracks, listed below.
01 About to Die
02 While You’re Here
03 Here Til It Says I’m Not
04 Simple Request
Listen to “Dance For You”, the second single from the Dirty Projectors’ upcoming album Swing Lo Magellan, which is out July 10 on Domino. Pretty straight forward Dirty Projectors here, which is to say not straight forward at all in a standard musical sense. That guitar solo from Dave Longstreth is all sorts of fantastic. Listen below:

Dirty Projectors have released the video for “Gun Has No Trigger”, the first single from their highly-anticipated upcoming album Swing Lo Magellan, out on Domino on July 10 in the U.S., and July 9 everywhere else. Clip was directed by DP’s own Dave Longstreth. Dirty Projectors are playing a set at Pitchfork Music Festival on Friday, July 13. See you there.
Dirty Projectors’ 2009 album Bitte Orca was somewhat of a coming-out party for the Brooklyn band. Since then, the band has been involved with various projects, including a neat collaboration with Bjork. The band just dropped this new track that will be featured on Record Store Day, “Gun Has No Trigger…”. The track features Dave Longstreth with some of his most confident vocals yet along with haunting backing vocals from Amber Coffman and Angel Deeradorian. Most notably though, this song has a killer baseline. Can’t wait for more (they’re currently working on another full-length). It was also just announced that they will be a part of this summer’s Pitchfork Music Festival.
